Public Notice: Winter Weather Recovery and Official Meeting Schedule

Solid Waste Collection Services Resume
The City of Memphis Solid Waste Division has announced the resumption of residential garbage and recycling collection effective Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Following delays caused by hazardous road conditions and lingering ice, crews will prioritize Wednesday routes. To ensure all residents are serviced, collection teams will operate with extended hours throughout the remainder of the week. Residents are advised to place their carts at the curb on their regularly scheduled day and leave them until service is completed. For those whose collection was missed on Monday or Tuesday, crews will utilize overtime operations, including scheduled pick-ups on Saturday, February 7, to clear the backlog.
State of Emergency Extension
Mayor Paul Young has officially extended the State of Emergency for the City of Memphis as the community continues to navigate the impact of severe winter weather. The extension, which originally went into effect in late January, remains active to facilitate the coordination of emergency resources and recovery efforts. City officials continue to monitor infrastructure and public safety as temperatures fluctuate and ice remains in shaded areas and side streets. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious while driving and to check on vulnerable neighbors during this period.
