Memphis Landmarks Commission Monthly Meeting

The Memphis Landmarks Commission has scheduled its regular monthly meeting for Thursday, February 26, 2026. The session will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be held in person within the Memphis City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 125 North Main Street. This meeting is open to the public, and citizens are encouraged to attend to stay informed on local preservation and development standards. Staff reports and the full agenda for this session are available through the Division of Planning and Development (Develop901). For those unable to attend in person, meeting records and results will be posted on the official city portal following the conclusion of the session.

TDOT Infrastructure Alert: I-55 Nighttime Lane Closures

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has issued a final notice for temporary nighttime lane closures affecting both northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 55 at Exit 7. These closures are necessary for ongoing median construction and are scheduled to conclude their primary phase on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Work is performed between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. to minimize peak-hour traffic disruptions. During these windows, the southbound I-55 to southbound SR-14 ramp and the northbound SR-14 to southbound I-55 ramp are closed with marked detours in place. Motorists should be aware that February 26 through March 15 serves as a designated backup window should weather or technical issues delay the completion of current tasks. At least one lane in both directions will remain open at all times during the work period.

Notice of Amended Public Comment Policy

Residents participating in public meetings at City Hall are reminded of the recently enacted amendments to the City Council’s public comment policy. Under the new rules, individuals wishing to address the Council or commissions are no longer required to publicly state their home address for the record, provided they present a valid state-issued identification to the Sergeant at Arms prior to speaking. Commenters must still fill out a public comment card with their full contact information for internal records, but only their name will be required during the public broadcast. This change was implemented to protect the privacy and safety of citizens engaging in the democratic process.

Ongoing Traffic Advisory: State Route 277

Daily lane reductions remain in effect for State Route 277 (Northbound) in Shelby County near Log Mile 0.0. Due to ongoing construction, the roadway is reduced to a single lane Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Commuters are advised to expect minor delays during morning and evening rush hours or to seek alternative routes through the Midtown area.
