Kings end franchise-record 16-game skid with 123-114 win over injury-hit Grizzlies in Memphis

Sacramento finally breaks through after more than five weeks without a win
The Sacramento Kings snapped a franchise-record 16-game losing streak Monday night, beating the Memphis Grizzlies 123-114 at FedExForum. The result ended a skid that had pushed Sacramento to the bottom of the NBA standings and marked the club’s first victory since Jan. 16, when it defeated Washington at home.
Sacramento entered the game at 13-46 and left with a road win built on efficiency, rebounding and sustained control of the scoreboard. The Kings led for most of the night, taking a 63-61 advantage into halftime and finishing after setting the game’s largest lead at 13.
Westbrook and Achiuwa provide the primary lift
Guard Russell Westbrook scored 25 points to lead Sacramento, while Precious Achiuwa posted 22 points and 12 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan and Daeqwon Plowden added 20 points each, with Plowden scoring 10 in the fourth quarter as the Kings separated during the closing stretch.
Memphis was paced by Javon Small with 21 points and nine assists. Olivier-Maxence Prosper scored 17 and GG Jackson added 16 as the Grizzlies attempted to counter Sacramento’s size and interior production.
Key runs defined a game Sacramento largely controlled
After Memphis briefly moved in front early in the third quarter, Sacramento answered with an 18-6 surge that produced the first double-digit lead of the game. The Kings carried a 92-89 margin into the fourth and opened the final period with a 15-4 run, capped by a Westbrook 3-pointer with 8:45 remaining, to reestablish separation.
Team stats reflected the structure of the outcome. Sacramento shot 50% from the field (47-of-94), out-rebounded Memphis 45-37, and scored 64 points in the paint. The Grizzlies shot 48% (42-of-87) and made 12 three-pointers, but committed 18 turnovers to Sacramento’s 15 and did not match the Kings’ interior volume.
Memphis shorthanded as both teams navigate disrupted seasons
Monday’s matchup came with Memphis working through significant availability issues, with multiple players listed on the injury report. The limited frontcourt depth showed in second-chance situations and in Sacramento’s ability to repeatedly generate paint touches and offensive rebounds.
- Final score: Kings 123, Grizzlies 114
- Halftime: Kings 63, Grizzlies 61
- Notable stat edges: Sacramento rebounds (45-37) and points in the paint (64-54)
Sacramento’s losing streak reached 16 games, the longest in franchise history, before Monday’s win in Memphis.
Next up, Sacramento is scheduled to visit Houston on Wednesday, while Memphis is set to host Golden State the same night.
