Robbery investigation on Mignon Avenue

Two people were taken into custody after Memphis Police investigators used security video shared through the Connect Memphis public-safety camera network to identify a suspected getaway vehicle in a reported robbery, authorities said.

The robbery was reported on Jan. 27, 2026, at about 8:10 a.m. on Mignon Avenue. Police said an armed suspect approached a victim, removed the victim’s wallet, and fled in a dark blue Nissan with a woman described as an accomplice.

Police said the investigation moved quickly after investigators obtained video shared through Connect Memphis, allowing them to identify the vehicle and trace it to its owner. Police also said evidence was recovered at the scene and linked two suspects to the incident.

Arrests and charges

Police identified the suspects as Jeremy Morris, 28, and Destiny Worley, 27. Both were arrested on Jan. 31, 2026, police said.

  • Morris is charged with aggravated robbery and convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

  • Worley is charged with aggravated robbery.

The arrest and charging information reflects allegations filed by law enforcement and does not determine guilt.

How Connect Memphis is designed to work

Connect Memphis is a city public-safety program that allows residents and businesses to participate in investigations by registering the presence of exterior security cameras. The program is structured with two primary participation levels: a registry that helps investigators locate nearby cameras after an incident, and an optional integration track that can enable a live-streaming capability under settings chosen by the camera owner.

Program materials state that camera registration is intended to document that a camera exists at a location so investigators can request footage when needed, rather than providing routine access to a live feed. For participants who opt into integration, the system uses a device installed on the participant’s network that can provide conditional access, with program terms describing that camera owners set preferences for how and when access may occur.

Investigative role of video evidence

Video evidence is frequently used in robbery investigations to establish timelines, corroborate victim statements, and identify vehicles and individuals. In this case, police attributed the identification of the suspect vehicle to video shared through Connect Memphis and said the vehicle information helped investigators connect the case to named suspects, along with evidence recovered at the scene.

Case timeline: robbery reported Jan. 27, 2026; arrests announced as occurring Jan. 31, 2026; charges filed for aggravated robbery against both suspects.

Police have not released additional investigative details in the public summary beyond the vehicle description, the alleged theft of a wallet, and the charges.
