City Notice Roundup: Solid Waste Updates and Public Health Advisories

City Services and Solid Waste Collection Update
As of Friday, February 6, 2026, the City of Memphis Solid Waste Division continues to monitor public right-of-way conditions following recent winter weather. While residential garbage and recycling collection were suspended earlier in the week due to ice accumulation, officials are evaluating road safety to determine if crews can safely deploy for Friday routes. Residents are advised of the following:
- Leave all collection carts at the curb until service has been completed for your neighborhood.
- Crews are prioritizing areas where ice has melted sufficiently to allow for safe vehicle stops and cart servicing.
- The City's third-party collection contractor, Team Waste, remains on the same modified schedule as municipal crews.
- Residents are encouraged to download the Curbside Collection app for real-time notifications regarding specific route delays.
Public Convenience Centers Open for Resident Use
To assist residents during the ongoing service disruption, the City of Memphis has confirmed that two primary convenience centers will operate on their regular schedules from Friday, February 6, through Sunday, February 8. These sites are available for residents to drop off household waste and accepted materials between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily:
- Collins Street Center: Located at 304 Collins Street.
- Farrisview Boulevard Center: Located at 3207 Farrisview Boulevard.
Please note that residents must provide proof of residency, and standard volume restrictions for drop-offs remain in effect.
Public Health and Community Engagement Notices
The Shelby County Health Department and local transit advocates have issued the following announcements regarding community welfare and upcoming public sessions:
- Transit Equity Day: A public forum will be held on Saturday, February 7, at the Orange Mound Community Center (2590 Park Ave) from 10:00 a.m. to noon. This event will focus on transit accessibility and the MATAPlus paratransit service.
- Health Department Operations: Following the inclement weather state of emergency, residents should call (901) 222-9000 to confirm clinic availability before visiting. Limited services are expected to resume at regional clinics as conditions improve.
Safety Advisory: Persistent Road Hazards
City officials and the Memphis Police Department urge continued caution on Friday morning. While major thoroughfares have been treated, black ice remains a threat in shaded areas, on bridge decks, and throughout residential neighborhoods. Drivers are advised to maintain safe following distances and report significant roadway hazards via the 311 service system.
