A repertory program built around three contrasting short works

Ballet Memphis is set to present its annual Winter Mix repertory program in Midtown from Friday, February 13, through Sunday, February 15, 2026. The production is scheduled at the company’s facility at 2144 Madison Avenue, with performance times varying by date.

Winter Mix is structured as a single evening of dance built from three distinct works, each running roughly 20 minutes and separated by intermissions. The format positions the program as a compact survey of different choreographic approaches rather than a single full-length narrative ballet.

What’s on the program: returning work plus new creations

The 2026 Winter Mix lineup combines a returning audience favorite with new works by in-house artists. The program includes:

  • Fingers of Your Thoughts, choreographed by Julia Adam and commissioned in 2009, returning to the stage for this year’s Winter Mix.

  • A world-premiere work choreographed by Ballet Memphis company dancer Emilia Sandoval, continuing her development as a choreographer and exploring dance storytelling through poetry and spoken or written word.

  • A new work by Artistic Director Steven McMahon, described as drawing inspiration from Greek myths—foundational stories that have influenced Western literature and art.

Storytelling as a unifying theme across different aesthetics

This season’s Winter Mix has been framed around multiple “modes of storytelling,” with choreographers working through varied structures and aesthetics within the same night. Ballet Memphis has described the program as a platform for original works and for giving choreographers room to develop new narratives in movement.

“While we’ve always been known for creating innovative new works, we’re thrilled that this program has become a place for our choreographers to tell new stories and our audiences to experience something different without barriers,” Artistic Director Steven McMahon said in a statement released ahead of the weekend performances.

Logistics: dates, location, and what audiences can expect

Performances run February 13–15, 2026, at Ballet Memphis on Madison Avenue. Winter Mix is presented as an all-original evening of company repertory, with the program’s three works designed to be viewed together in one sitting. Ticketing information has been released by Ballet Memphis for the weekend schedule.

By combining a commissioned returning work with two new pieces—one from a company dancer-choreographer and one from the artistic director—Winter Mix continues Ballet Memphis’ annual practice of presenting repertory that balances continuity in the company’s recent history with new choreographic development.
